To gather something, the player has to look for it and roll a gathering check, each gathering check takes 1 hour.
There are many things you can try to find around the island, some are harder to find than others and some are restricted to certain zone types. Here is a chart to show it:
|Plant (0.2 lbs)||5||10||Not available||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an additional 0.2 lbs of the same plant|
|Sharp stone||10||15||5||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an additional stone|
|Rock||10||15||5||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an additional rock|
|Log||Not available||15||Not available||For each increment of 10 over the DC, the player finds an additional log|
|Solid branch||5||10||Not available||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an branch|
|twig||0||5||Not available||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an additional twig|
|Feather||10||10||Not available||for each increment of 2 over the DC, the player finds an additional feather|
PLANTS: Those could be anything from berries to mushrooms, the plant the player finds is determined by the GM after a successful check. Plants cannot be gathered in the winter.
To find a specific plant, if you succeed on your gathering check, the GM will roll a d100 to determine if you find your specific plant, if he rolls 20 or under, you have found it. If not, he will roll on the random plant table that he has.
SHARP STONES: Those are used in the creation of tools, arrows and certain weapons.
ROCK: Bigger than stones, those are unpolished but heavier rocks, used to make other tools and traps.
SOLID BRANCH: those are harder to find than mere twigs, but are necessary for building certain things like arrows.
TWIGS: easy to find but usually only useful to start a fire or craft first aid supplies.
FEATHERS: Not too hard to find, feathers are mostly only useful in the crafting of arrows… Or a fancy hat.
